Ollie Schroeder, an integral volunteer and builder of Red River Valley Baseball and prominent member of the Baseball Manitoba community, has passed away.
Ollie dedicated over 40 years to developing baseball in Winnipeg and the province. Her primary focus was the Red River Valley Sports League (RRVBL) in Northeast Winnipeg, where she served in multiple roles including treasurer, registrar, scheduler, and coach coordinator. Her efforts helped the RRVSL gain entry into Baseball Canada’s Reaching Baseball Ideals (RBI) program, promoting player safety and wider youth participation. She also played a key role in founding the Winnipeg Minor Baseball Association and contributed to numerous regional and provincial championships. She was inducted into the Baseball Manitoba Honour Society in 1996, named Baseball Canada’s Volunteer of the Year in 2006, and was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in 2024. Her dedication expanded access to baseball for many children and communities within Manitoba.
Ollie's passing affects many people across the province, and all of us at Red River Valley Baseball send our deepest condolences to the Schroeder family and her entire community at this time.
A memorial service to celebrate Ollie’s life will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home on Hwy #1 East at Navin Rd at 2 p.m. on June 23, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ollie Schroeder’s name to Red River Valley Baseball at PO Box 43010 Kildonan Place Winnipeg, MB R2C 5H5 or by e-transfer to registrations@redrivervalleybaseball.ca or another youth sporting organization that is close to your heart.
